Encouragingly, many organisations now are recognising the full impact that conflict has on the company and people within it, and are investing in developing their own internal mediators to resolve disputes.
We have specially developed an intensive 3-day ILM-endorsed course to advance your internal mediators. The programme, which represents a significant step in professional development, provides delegates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively conduct workplace mediations.

We work in partnership with you to identify the required learning objectives for each course. Typically this includes a scoping meeting with the necessary stakeholders to:
- Identify the causes of conflicts in the workplace and beyond, and apply the principles of collaborative conflict resolution strategies to such circumstances
- Develop the skills needed to effectively handle conflict in the workplace and, through the mediation process in particular, to develop the skills for preventing conflict from escalating
- Distinguish between a principled negotiation ‘problem-solving’ approach and a ‘transformative’ approach to conflict and to understand when to apply them
- Develop assertive communication and behaviour management skills when working with difficult and resistant behaviour
- Identify and be able to practice the stages of a joint mediation meeting and to use the skills required at each stage
Prior to training delivery we can also issue a Pre-Course Questionnaire to ensure that we fully understand the issues your employees face and what they would like to achieve during the course. This also helps to raise delegates' engagement in the course.

Post Course Assessment and Development
In addition to our standard post-course support, we can also offer optional development coaching to assess delegates newly acquired proficiency and help embed the learning further through one-to-one feedback.
Typically, (but not exclusively) this development activity is designed to support the content of our mediation training programmes. The development coaching usually involves the trainer observing mediation skills in action and offering one-to-one individual feedback in line with the training standards. We find that delegates hugely benefit from this focused and robust training method.

Standard Support
To encourage learning to be applied back in the workplace, delegates often need additional support. We offer access to our online hub of key materials relating to conflict management including Equality and Diversity, or can place this on your Company intranet or VLE, whichever is preferred. Within our secure knowledge platform, delegates can discuss with and support each other in helping them implement what they have learned in a secure, password-protected forum.
As part of our service, we also offer your organisation a host of standardised mediation templates such as a ‘Request to Mediate’ form and ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ guide about mediation to help fully embed the service and ensure consistency in its deployment.

The cost of our programmes are based on a number of factors such as: the length, volume, number of facilitators required, the specialist subject and whether the course is an open or in-house programme.
We can also provide Train the Trainer options for high volume, in-house programmes.
Prices for open programmes start from £220 + VAT and for our in-house courses from £100 + VAT per day.
